I’m Trying to Figure Out This Whole “Disability” Thing

My name is Jacob Barrett. I officially started Barrett Mobility about five years ago after helping to design a durable rollator for my own personal use as a young adult with cerebral palsy. I wanted to show it to the masses in hopes to help people become more independent.

While that is still a goal of mine, I’ve shifted my focus. What is perhaps most important is that I create a platform to share my experience with physical disability in hopes that I can reduce stigma, give perspective, vent a bit. and (I hate this word) inspire a few people.

Know that I am no expert on anything other than myself. As I create content for Barrett Mobility, I am learning as much as anyone on how to deal with life as a disabled adult, but I hope the brand and I both grow to be able to connect with others and share a common message that, disability or not, we’re all just kinda figuring stuff out.

Welcome.

  • Hard to say, really. I hope everyone can get something out of it. It’ll give some perspective on what it’s like living life with a disability, hopefully. I also just want to be able to reach others like me so we can learn from each other.

  • Of course! Just shoot me a message on Instagram, Facebook, or fill out the contact sheet here!

  • For now, yes. Eventually the plan is to expand is to expand into videos, and collaborate with others like me to reach a larger audience and learn more along the way. Of course, This blog is on social media, which can be found through the links on this site.
